‘ CARTERTON CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr F. L. Barr presided over an attendance of twenty-nine members at the annual meeting of the Carterton Bowling Club, held at Carterton last night. The chairman presented a comprehensive report of the club’s activities during the past season, and said that the financial position was very satisfactory. He referred in eulogistic terms to the work of the secretary and treasurer, who had occupied the position for the past sixteen years. The match recorder reported that the club championships had been won as follows:—Club rink championship, Messrs Pankhurst, Steven, Simmonds, Sorensen (s); DeLacey Buttons, Messrs Foss and Riggs (s); club pairs, Messrs McCarty and Daysh (s); singles champion, Mr W. C M. Sorensen; progressive pairs (skips), Mr Sorensen 6 wins and a draw, Mr Tucker 6 wins and a draw, equal, (leads), Mr H. Colson 6 wins; Masson Cup, Messrs King, Harris, Harp and Riggs *(s); colts singles, R. Foss. Mr H. Simmonds, chairman of the green committee, presented a report of the season’s work, and appealed to members for donations of flower seedlings and shrubs to beautify the playing area. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr Gordon Hughan; president, Mr J. L. Harris; vice-presi-dent, Mr W. Martin; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. H. Barber; auditor, Mr E. T. Beaven; official match recorder, Mr C. J. DeLacey; official bowl examiner, Mr W. F. Stent; match committee, Messrs Harris, Riggs and G. Hart; green committee, Messrs G. Hart and H. Simmonds; refreshment committee, Messrs G. Hughan and J. Newbould; social committee, Messrs S. McCarty, H. Colson, R. Foss, R. Daysh,'H. King and E H. Smith; general committee, Messrs F. L. Barr, G. W. Hart, J. Newbould, S. McCarty, A. E. Pankhurst, H. King, G. Riggs; delegates to the Wairarapa Bowling Association, Messrs Harris, Barber and Stent. It was decided that members' be classified for rink games. Messrs Hughan and Sorensen were appointed to coach new players. Reference was made by members to the long and faithful service as secretary and rendered by Mr C. H. Barber, and it was unanimously resolved that he be elected a life member. Five nominations for membership were received. A vote of thanks was accorded the ladies who, during the season, had supervised the afternoon teas.
