SOLWAY RAINFALL

FIGURES FOR AUGUST. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured at Solway on 19 days in August. The maximum fall was 2.06 inches on the 11th, and the minimum 1 point on the 4th and Sth. The total for the month was 5.13 inches as compared with 3.30 (1942), 6.41 (1941), 4.37 (1940), 3.71 (1939), 2.62 (1938). The average for 40 years is 4.18 inches. The total rainfall for the eight months of the present year is 23.99 inches as against 31.62 (1942), 33.39 (1941), 23.31 (1940), 21.93 (1939), 31.62 (1938). The average for forty years is 26.99 inches.
