FARMERS’ UNION
WOMEN’S DIVISION. MEETING IN MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held yesterday, Mrs C. C. Jackson presiding over an excellent attendance of members. The president reported that the Dominion executive had been-offered two beautiful homes, one at Waimate and the other at Nelson, to be used as Rest Homes for 4 ; red mothers. Provincial executives throughout the Dominion had been asked to meet to decide whether they favoured accepting both or only one and if favouring the acceptance of both were they prepared to help with the financing of their establishment. The president, Mrs Ki Groves, had called an urgent meeting last week of the Wairarapa Provincial 'executive which favoured the acceptance of both homes. The shop day did excellent business under the management of Mesdames K. Groves, W. James, F. Hewitt and C. Jarrett. An address was given by two nurses on certain diseases, the seriousness of which resulted in a resolution being passed that all members of women’s organisations, all young mothers and girls be invited to attend the League of Mothers’ meeting which would be hold in the Knox Church Hall on September 15, at 2.30 p.m., and at which Dr. Lee, of Wellington, is to be invited to be the speaker. A vote of thanks was passed to the nurses. Afternoon tea was served.
