“FAIR FLAY”

AN ASTONISHING “APPEAL” MADE TO NATIONAL PARTY LEADER. BY WAIRARAPA LABOUR CANDIDATE. The following telegram signed by Mr Ben Roberts, Labour candidate for the Wairarapa seat, was received by Mr S. G. Holland, Leader of the Opposition in Masterton today:— “My car and others were put out of action at Greytown last night. Mr Hansen had his attache case stolen at Pahiatua. I appeal to you for fair play.” Mr Holland jestingly appealed to the members of his audience not to steal his attache case and said he had had many experiences in public life, but the receipt of the telegram was a new experience for him. He was surprised to learn, he added, that such things went on in the Wairarapa. He hoped Mr Hansen would have his attache case returned to him.
