SPORT CONTROL

REGIMENTATION OBJECTED TO. N.Z. TENNIS ASSOCIATION'S ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Objection to any form of regimentation in the control of sport was indicated at the annual meeting of the New Zealand, Lawn Tennis Association in Wellington yesterday, when it was decided to approach with caution the question of joining up with the National Council of Sport. Mr A. G. Henderson, chairman of the management committee of the association, commented that such an organisation might be no less than an attempt by the Government to regiment everybody. The difficulty was to keep out of it. Mr H. M. Boddingtgon, the retiring president, said the association would "have to be in the swim” if there was going to be a “swim.” Ho instanced the case of the Wairarapa association, saying a 50-bed hospital had been built right across the middle of its courts at Masterton. and a roadway built three feet deep in metal. Finally it was decided that the question of the Council of Sport bo left in the hands of the management committee with a view to ascertaining its proposed constitution, functions. and powers, and that when such Information has been obtained, the whole matter bo placed before a quarterly meeting of delegagtes for full discussion.
