TIRAUMEA
FAREWELL GATHERING MISS E. WALLIS HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very enjoyable time was spent in the local hall on Saturday, when the friends of Miss Edna Wallis entertained her. The lounge was a mass of spring bulbs for the occasion. Games, competitions and community singing were indulged in. Mrs G. Houlbrooke was the pianist. After afternoon tea had been served, Mrs Harman Junr., vice-president of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, on behalf of all present, handed Miss Wallis a writing companion and wished her the best of luck in her nursing career. Miss Wallis, who was accorded musical honours, suitably replied. The competition winners were Ivlesdames Wright, Houlbrooke and Harman and Miss Wallis. Miss E. Wallis has taken up nursing at the Masterton Hospital. Personal Items. Mrs R. Robbie is the guest of Mrs Olsen. Mrs Sharp is staying with Mr and Mrs E. Jewitts.' Miss M. Wright has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs Gordon Houlbrooke spent a holiday in Ashburton with her parents, Mr and Mrs Stone. The Misses Steed have been guests of Mrs Hansen.
Miss D. Hart spent the weekend in Haunui.
Mrs McManaway has returned from a holiday spent in Masterton. Sergeant B. Sturgess was the guest of Mr and Mrs Wallis over the weekend.
Mr and Mrs G. Laing are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu. Mrs and Miss Harman have returned from a visit to Auckland.
Sergeant D. Curtis, who is on furlough, is staying with his parents. | Mrs Jeffries, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs R. Houlbrooke.
Mrs J. Liverton is the guest of Mrs Liverton Senr., Seatoun.
