SPANIARD CONVICTED AT GIBRALTAR ON CHARGE OF TREACHERY. ATTEMPT TO CAUSE EXPLOSION IN DOCKYARD. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.0 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. Luis Lopez Cuencea, convicted on a charge of treachery, was sentenced to death. Cuenca, a Spaniard aged 22, appeared before the Supreme Court at Gibraltar on a charge of acting with intent to assist the enemy and of having in his possession a bomb for the purpose of causing an explosion in the Gibraltar dockyard. The Attorney-General, who prosecuted, stated that the Spanish authorities had arrested two others with whom Cuenca had been associated. Cuenca was arrested as a result of the courage of dockyard workers and the vigilance of the security police. Part of the case was heard in camera.
