CARTERTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (“Times-Age’’ Special.) A successful dance was held under the auspices of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union in the State Theatre on Saturday night. The music was supplied by T. Udy’s Orchestra and extras were played by Mr Hemi and Miss Lola Hopkins. The fox trot competition, judged by Miss Hirst, of Masterton, was won by Mr McHattie and Miss Benbow. A veleta was won by Mr K. Matthews and Miss Hilda Herdman. Mr Bambry was M.C. Supper was presided over by members of the committee. The proceeds of the dance will be donated to patriotic purposes. Personal. At a social gathering on Saturday evening, opportunity was taken to present the coach and manager of the Carterton senior football fifteen, Mr J. C. Fitzgerald, with a leather pocket wallet in appreciation of his interest in and work on behalf of the team during the past season. The presentation was made by Mr C. A. Gray, president. Mr M. Hurley (club captain) and Mr G. Steffert (secretary) also paid a tribute to Mr Fitzgerald for his services.
REGENT THEATRE “LADY BE GOOD.” “Lady Be Good,” a gay musical comedy, featuring Robert Young, Ann Southern, Lionel Barrymore and Eleanor Powell, will be shown tonight.
