GRANTED 1s 6d A DAY. AS SUPPLEMENTARY ALLOWANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Following on representations it had made, the Returned Soldiers’ Association has been advised by the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) that the Government has decided that members of the Middle East furlough draft shall be granted a supplementary allowance of Is 6d a day, thus bringing their subsistence allowance to 4s 6d a day during their three months’ stay in New Zealand. The allowance'of 4s 6d a day is that paid to men serving in the home forces and living away from their homes.
