OBITUARY
MR J. J. COTTLE The death occurred yesterday, after a short illness, of Mr Joseph Japhet | Cottle, of Levin, and formerly of the Wairarapa. The late Mr Cottle, who was in his 81st year, was born in Wellington and had lived the greater part of his life in the Wairarapa, where he was engaged in farming, first at Opaki, and later at Kopuaranga. He had resided in Levin for the past 20 years. When he was residing at Kopuaranga he was a member of the school committee and a trustee of the Kopuaranga Hall. A widow, five sons, Messrs W. J. and N. Cottle (Kopuaranga), C. Cottle (Manakau), P. Cottle (Te Horo) and T. Cottle (Levin) and seven daughters, Mesdames P. Lett and A. Cretney (Masterton), K. McLachlan (Rangitumau), J. Westhead (Kopuaranga), A. Campbell (Eketahuna) and L. Hales (New Plymouth) and Miss D. Cottle (Levin) are left to mourn their loss. There are also 32 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The 'funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, leaving St. Matthew’s Church after a service commencing at 2.30 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
