Preparations are being made to celebrate, next October, the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian mathematician, Nikolai Lobachevsky. The mathematical-physical science department of the Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R. has set up a special commission to prepare for this jubilee. It is planned to publish several volumes of Lobachevsky’s works, to issue a popular account of his life and activities in a large edition, and to collect and publish material about his life and work.
