SOVIET PAPER’S CLAIM
RUSSIAN ENVOYS HINDERED. NOT ALLOWED TO MEET FRENCH LEADERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 20. British and American officials in North Africa prevented Russian envoys meeting either General de Gaulle or General Giraud, according to a Moscow journal, "War and the Working Class.” The paper said the Soviet for two months attempted to send representatives to establish personal contact with Geenrals Giraud and de Gaulle to obtain information, but the Russian desire was thwarted by British and American objections on the grounds of “military expediency."
