WEST SCHOOL

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION SUCCESS OF SHOP DAY. VALUE OF ASSISTANCE ACKNOWLEDGED. Mr F. Jestin presided at a meeting of the Masterton West Home and School Association last night, when matters in connection with the shop day this week were discussed. The committee expressed its appreciation of the splendid service rendered by those who had assisted at the shop day, special reference being made to the untiring efforts of the ladies who had been mainly responsible for the outstanding success recorded. Appreciation was expressed at the valuable assistance given by friends and parents generally in making and contributing goods and articles, and for the deep interest they took in matters associated with the school, thus greatly assisting the association in carryingout its work in the interests of the children. The competitions in connection with the shop day were won as follows: — Cake, Mrs W. Campbell, College Street. Seeds Mr J. W. Bird, Renall Street, 1; Bruce Unsworth, Renall Street, 2. Mr H. L. Esau was appointed to the position of treasurer in succession to Mrs L. Shepherd Avho recently resigned as she expected to be leaving Masterton shortly. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Thursday, September 30. Improvements at the side school were discussed and several proposals in this connection noted for future reference.
