BLACK MARKETING
POLICE RAID IN SYDNEY, EXTENSIVE PLANT DISCOVERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, August 19. Breaking down the barred doors of an old cafe, Commonwealth investigation officers found plant estimated to be worth £15,000 which they believe has been supplying an extensive black market with hair oil and other cosmetics. J The raid was carried out in an attempt to trace a leakage in Australian supplies of oil which are urgently needed for war purposes, including treatment at Army hospitals, and stocks of some of these oils are alleged to have been found at the plant. One big business office discovered that it had placed an order for £2OOO worth of goods from the organisation. Three women operatives were found on. the premises, but the investigation officers so far have been unable to establish the identity of their employer.
