ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. SOCIAL GATHERING YESTERDAY. A well-attended and very successful social gathering was held yesterday in the Y.M.C.A. Hall by St. Matthew's Ladies’ Guild. Mrs E. J. Rich presided and welcomed the guests. A much appreciated programme was given as follows:—-Vocal solo, Mrs Spicer; elocutionary item, Miss Jocelyn Heath; vocal quartette, Mesdames Speight, Heyder, Snowsill and Traynor. A novel competition was won by Mrs A. Owen Jones. An address was given by Lieut.-Com-mander C. L. Hults, who gave a particularly interesting account of the work of a chaplain with the American Marines. The serving of afternoon tea by Guild members brought a very ha.npy gathering to a close.
