From today bayonets face pedestrians in large areas on the English south coast, where military control is very strict and visitors are banned. A representative of the “Daily Mail” found barbed wire barricades across strategic points, and many road-blocks. The military police checked all passers-by. Some bus services have been cut and others diverted. The police are empowered to arrest unauthorised persons ,who are liable to a fine of £lOO or three months’ gaol, or both.
