MILITARY CONTROL
OVER AREAS IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND. BAN ON UNAUTHORISED VISITORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 18. From today bayonets face pedestrians in large areas on the English south coast, where military control is very strict and visitors are banned. A representative of the “Daily Mail” found barbed wire barricades across strategic points, and many road-blocks. The military police checked all passers-by. Some bus services have been cut and others diverted. The police are empowered to arrest unauthorised persons ,who are liable to a fine of £lOO or three months’ gaol, or both.
