GREAT INCREASE
STRENGTH OF AMERICAN NAVY AND ASSOCIATED FORCES. STATEMENT BY COLONEL KNOX (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON,. August 17. Referring to the Navy’s prolonged silence regarding operations against Kiska, Colonel Knox told a Press conference: “No news is good news.” Colonel Knox disclosed that the total strength of the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coastguard is now 2,666,500 and that by the end of the vear it will be 2,861,000.
