WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
COMPETITION WINNERS.
(“Times-Age” Special.) . The monthly meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs Marchbanks, Mrs Beetham presiding. Mrs Dagg gave an interesting demonstration on rug-making, using discarded silk stockings as material.
Mrs Mannell showed beautiful specimens of carving done with improvised tools. The competitions resulted as follows —Sewing: Mrs Mannell, 1; Mrs Cooper, 2; Mrs Malmo, 3. Cooking: Miss lorns. 1; Mrs Jaine, 2; Mrs Harris, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Mannell, 1; Mrs Wingate, 2, Miss lorns, 3. "The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Beetham, when the competitions' will be: Best bloom (bulb), and shortbread. The Institute will pack a box of shortbread for the Seamen’s Mission.
