SOCIAL GATHERING

IN AID OF CROQUET CLUB FUNDS

(“Times-Age” Special.) A very enjoyable social gathering in aid of the croquet funds was held in the Parish .Hall. Afternoon tea was served by the members. An amusing comedy, “Between the Soup and the Savoury,” was acted by members of the Drama Circle. Those taking part were: Mesdames Duncan, Bowering and Miss Agnes Schultz. The winners of the various competitions were: —Local names, Miss Edmonds; jumbled letters, Mesdames McAlister and Hancock; eggs. Mrs W. Olsen. Mrs C. Reardon made and donated gifts for prizes. BOY SCOUTS MEETING. OF COMMITTEE. Mr M. W. Priest presided at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Boy Scouts’ Committee. Mr F. J. Trim, Scoutmaster, and Mr H. Smith, Cubmaster, furnished their reports which showed that scouting and cubbing in Eketahuna were progressing Very satisfactorily. The Cubmaster expressed his admiration of the manner in which the assistant Cubmaster, Miss Sybil Walton, had carried out her work. The secretary was instructed to write to Miss Walton conveying to her the committee’s appreciation. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Master Rex Morriss, who has been confined to bed for some time, expressing the hope that he would soon be up and about again. The chairman drew attention to the pending departure of Mr A. B. Fordyce, who has been a member of the committee for the past 31 years, and took the opportunity of thanking Mr Fordyce for his help. Mr Fordyce suitably responded. Personal Items. Mr C. Oliver, who underwent an operation for appendicitis in the Masterton Hospital, is progressing favourably towards recovery. Mrs Wright, Lower Hutt, is the guest of her mother, Mrs C. Schultz, Rongokokako. Mr Colin Dagg is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital.
