SEVEN JAPANESE SHIPS
SUNK BY UNITED STATES SUBMARINES. FIVE OTHERS DAMAGED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 15: A Navy communique announces that United States submarines have reported sinking seven enemy vessels and damaging five others in the Pacific and Far Eastern waters. The ships sunk were a large transport, a mediumsized passenger freighter, two small freighters one small schooner, a medi-un-sized supply ship, and a mediumsized cargo vessel. The ships damaged were a medium-sized freighter, a medium sized tanker, a medium-sized cargo vessel, one small freighter and one spall cargo ship.
