TAXI DRIVERS
MANY “BASHED” IN SYDNEY. EMPLOYMENT OF WOMEN OPPOSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, August 12. Taxi-driving was not suitable work for women, it was stated at a meeting of taxi-driver members of the Road Transport Workers’ Union. Speakers said that during the past two months 23 drivers have been “bashed” in Sydney. Their attackers have been mostly drunken civilians and service men. A resolution was carried opposing the proposed employment of women drivers.
