LADIES’ AUXILIARY
MEETING OF Y.M.C.A. HELPERS. ADDRESS ON POLICY. The monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. was held yesterday in the lounge of the Y.M.C.A., Mrs A. Corskie presiding. In acknowledgment of her services to the Y.M.C.A., a shoulder spray was presented to Mrs J. W. J. Jones by Mrs F. Nelson. Mrs Jones suitably replied. Mrs H. E. Pither applied for and was granted indefinite leave of absence.
The new general secretary of the Y.M.C.A., Mr L. M. Johansen, addressed the meeting on the policy of the association. He said the aim of the Y.M.CA. was the development of the spiritual, mental and physical experience of young people. In Masterton, because of the very necessary canteen service required during the last two years, the association had been unable to carry out the youth programme. He was confident that the association should, and was now able to, return to its original policy. Co-operation, he said, must he the keynote of the internal government of the association, with all committees and individuals working in the closest harmony. The association president, Mr J. A. Kennedy, endorsed the general secretary’s remarks, expressing the full cooperation of the board of directors. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames W Marchbanks, G. Masters,- F. Nelson and F. Pike.
A bring and buy table was held. The next meeting will be on Thursday, September 9. -
