NEW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROPOSED. MOVE IN MASTERTON. The need of establishing a Ratepayers’ Association ,a Civic League or a Chamber of Commerce to discuss matters of community interest was referred to by Mr J. Macfarlane Laing at a public meeting' held in Masterton last night to discus aspects of the Service Men’s Settlement and Land Sales Bill. Mr J. H. Cunningham said a town was not worth its name unless it had a Chamber of Commerce. A meeting would be convened to start a new Chamber of Commerce. Rehabilitation and matters of civic and wider importance required to be discussed. The matter of establishing new industries in Masterton wanted pushing. The people, he said, had to be shaken out of their apathetic way.
