FEATHERSTON

WEDDING DEWAR—HECTOR (“Times-Age" Special.) A pretty wedding was celebrated in (he Presbyterian Church, Featherston, recently when Mary Melville, second, daughter of Mr and Mrs Hector, Pihautea, was married to Robert William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Dewar. Masterion. The Rev H. Bloomfield conducted the service and Mrs Bloomfield presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a long trained frock of slipper satin cut on classical lines. Her beautifully hand-work-ed veil was held to the head by two small arum lilies. Her bouquet was of white heather roses and maiden hair fern. The bride wore her mother’s gold locket. Miss Agnes Hector, sister of the bride, who was the only bridesmaid, was dressed in pink net over satin and wore a gold pendant, the gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of pink camelias and maiden-hair fern. Ngaire Maisey, who was the flower girl, was dressed in green organdie. Her bouquet was composed of pink camelias and fern. The bridegroom’s gift to her was a gold bangle. Both bridesmaid and flower girl wore halos to match their frocks.

The duties of best man were carried out by Mr J. Clarke, of Masterton. During the signing of the register. “I'll Walk Beside You” was excellently rendered by the bridesmaid. On leaving the church, the bridegroom’s small sister, Patricia, presented the bride with a silver horseshoe. After the ceermony a reception was held in the Pihautea Hall. Mrs Hector, who was dressed in black with accessories to match, welcomed one hundred guests. She was assisted by Mrs Dewar, whose frock was of air force blue with navy accessories. Both wore sprays to tone.

When Mr and Mrs Dewar loft fo:4 the north by car the bride was wearing a sea blue frock with coat to match.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Featnerston Presbyterian Church, the Rev. W. J. Couling (Carterton) was in the chair. The Revs. McNeur (Masterton), Madill (Martinborough) and Bloomfield (Featherston) were also present. The report of the Session was read by Mr Arch. Clark (session clerk) and was considered very satisfactory. Various other reports were read.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Arch. Clark for her work as treasurer for 21 years for the P.W.M.U. The election 'of officers resulted as follows:—Managers, Messrs Arch. Clark, T. Hardie. M. B. Tait, D. Wilson, J. Buck, J. Blain, G. Yule, W. Fellingharn, B. Donald, T. Tidswell, Welch. Mrs Arch. Clark. Misses B. Donald and Towart.

A vote of thanks was passed to the Rev. H. Bloomfield for his work during the past 12 months. Addresses were given by the Revs. McNeur,*Madill and Couling. . ■ At the conclusion of the meeting musical items were rendered by Mrs B. Burch (Martinborough), Mrs Farley (Greytown), Mrs Houston. Miss Betty Smith, Mr F. Clarke, Rev. H. Bloomfield and Mr J. Buck. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Arch. Clark. Euchre Party. There was a full attendance at the euchre party held at the Service Club on Tuesday night, and in which Mrs Habib was first and Mr Habib second. A competition was won’by Mr Cassidy. R.S.A. Ball. Ihe R.S.A. ball, which is to be held tonight, promises to be very successful. Special preparations have been made by the committee for the gathering. COSY THEATRE ‘•THE GETAWAY" There will be two big features presented tomorrow night —"The Getaway." an exciting drama featuring Charles Winninger and Robert Stirling, and "The Strange Case of Doctor RX,” an excellent drama in which Lionel Atwill and Patrie Knowles have the chief roles.
