There was a good attendance at an afternoon gathering held by the Salvation Army Home League yesterday. Mrs J. Leighton exterfded a welcome to the visitors and to the speaker, Mrs Penketh, of Palmerston North, who gave a demonstration of the manufacture of useful articles from scraps. Many beautifully made novelties from old felt hats, papier rnache vases, bread brooches, etc., were shown. A mop made from old’ scraps of wool was also shown. On the motion of Mrs Stone the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served.
