RED CROSS SOCIETY SUB-CENTRE CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Eketahuna Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society held its monthly Flag 500 party on Saturday night. There was a good attendance and Mr Castledene supervised the games. The following were the winners: Ladies, Mesdames E. M. Simmers and Rasmussen. Men: Messrs W. J. Manser and B. Oliver.
The wandering parcel was won by Mrs Bowering. Mesdames McAlister and Edwards were the hostesses. WEDDING MATTOCK—SMITH. A quiet wedding took place recently at Eketahuna when Amy Olive, youngest daughter of. Mr and Mrs A. C. Smith, Newman”, was married to Selby Robert, eldest son of Mrs F. E. Hay. of Hawera. and the late Mr F. J. Mattock. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. Mrs Fauvel presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Elietahuna Women’.; Institute. An--apology for absence received from Mrs McAlister. It was decided to make a donation to the Dominion and Bush Federations. Mi's R. Farrow gave a very interesting account of the recent institute con-
ference held in Gisborne which she attended as a delegate. A dainty shoulder spray was presented io a member who laid a birthday during the month. The hostesses wore Mesdames A.l- - and Higginson.
The competitions were won as follows: —Paper hat: Mrs Duncan. Wall competition: Mrs C. Raleigh. Article from a flour bag: Mrs Baucke, 1; Mrs B. Morris, 2. Premier bloom: Mrs Higginson, 1; Mrs Carter. 2; Mrs Baucke, 3. Three flowers: Mrs Carter, 1; Mrs Baucke, 2; Mrs Fauvel and Mrs Higginson, 3. Mrs Sturgeon was the winner of the potato competition and was presented with a trophy. Personal Items. Mrs McLclland, of Marlborough, and a former resident of Eketahuna, is the guest, of Mrs H’ Smith. Newman Road. Miss Barlass, Wellington, spent the weekend with Miss Dorset, district health nurse. Personal Items. Mrs R. Farrow, who attended the Women's Division Conference in Gisborne as the Eketahuna delegate, has returned home. Miss B. Perry, who has been on a visit to Wellington, has returned home. Mrs R. Unwin and family. Rongomai, are on a visit to Hastings.
