Forty members of the Congress Party were arrested on their arrival at,; Poona from various parts of India, with the declared intention of marching to the Aga Khan's palace, where Mr Gandhi is detained. Others were arrested at nearby railway stations. -Police vans constantly patrolled the streets of Poona and further arrests were made. In Bombay a few minor demonstrations marked the anniversary of the arrest of Gandhi and other Congress leaders. The police made fifty arrests today and have also preventively detained nearly 300 persons in the past few days. The police- at the weekend raided the north part of Bombay, seized explosive and incendiary bombs and chemicals and made a number of arrests.
