The New Zealand Service cricket team beat Southhampstead by five wickets and 91 runs. New Zealand scored 223 for the loss of five wickets. Flight Lieutenant R. Carter, Wellington, made 84 not out; Lieutenant C. S. Dempster, 65; Pilot Officer G. R. Rabone, Wellington, 30, and Sapper P. Gilbert, West Coast, 28. Southhampstead scored 132, Dempster catching the last man on the last ball of the game off Corporal N. Parkes, Auckland. Other members of the team were Cadet Ratings R. Metcalfe. R. Bourke, both Wellington; Pilot Officers R. M. Clarke (Hamilton), A. V. Rodgers (Palmerston North), Sapper R. McLeod (Auckland), Flying Officer E. Grant (Gisborne).

The New Zealanders are playing the Australians on August 14. The New Zealanders’ Rugby season begins on September 18, when the South Islanders meet the North Islanders.
