Flags at Half-Mast.
Flags were flown at half-mast on Government buildings in Masterton today to mark the funeral of President Lin Sen, late president of the National Government of China.
Interesting Lantern Lecture. There was a large attendance at the Methodist Church, Masterton, last night when the Rev. H. J. Odell showed lantern slides and lectured on the Home and Maori Mission fields. The Rev. G. H. Goodman presided. The lesson was read by Mr E. M. Hodder and Mr F. G. Rutter led in prayer. On the motion of Dr. N. H. Prior, a vote of thanks was passed to the speaker for his splendid address.
Impudent Theft. It has been reported to the Palmerston North police that an impudent theft was committed in Ashhurst on Sunday by a soldier, who drove up to a petrol station and ordered some petrol. When* three gallons had been pumped into the tank the motorist suddenly started his engine and drove away at high speed without making any payment. The van was located later in Broadway and returned to a surprised owner in College Street ,who had not known the van had been taken out of his garage.
