LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST RAIN WITH COLD TEMPERATURES, BUT SLOWLY IMPROVING. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington-, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Fresh to strong easterly winds. Weather dull with rain at times. Temperatures cold. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Slow improvement. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 1 point of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday, and 4 points of rain during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. The Waingawa sub-station, P.W.D., reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Shade temperature, maximum, 48; minimum, 40; terrestrial, 32.5; sunshine, 3 hours 12 minutes. The sub-station reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. ■today;—Shade temperature, maximum, 49; minimum, 34; terrestrial, 26; frost, 4.4 degrees.
