• R.A.F. ATTACKS ON BURMA.IN SPITE OF HEAVY MONSOON IN JULY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 1. An R.A.F. spokesman in Delhi stated, according to a Press message, that in July the R.A.F. went on the offensive over Burma every day the weather permitted, in spite of the heavy monsoon. Japanese sampans were the chief target. More than 60 river craft were destroyed and 200 more goods wagons damaged, and there were successful attacks on 22 locomotives. A 1,000,000-gallon oil tank received a direct hit, resulting in fires which lasted for two days. Five R.A.F. aircraft are missing, but not one by enemy action.
