Notice was served on election speakers at a political meeting in Blenheim last night, by the Mayor, Mr C. T. Smith, that he would not tolerate “any dirt” in addresses at which he presided. It had been said, he observed, that this would be a dirty election, but personally he thought the bulk of the people were too sensible to permit that in war-time. However, if any speaker did overstep the mark, he intended quietly to vacate the chair and leave the offender to control the meeting. 1
