ACCURATE BOMBING

OF NAZI BASES IN SHOWN BY PHOTOGRAPHS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 11.15 a.m.) RUGBY, July 25. Very good bombing results were indicated by photographs taken yesterday during daylight attacks on two German targets in Norway, according to United States Headquarters. The first bombs dropped on Heroya hit the centre of aluminium and magnesium installations, and subsequent bombs blanketed the entire plant. Direct hits were made, too, on a rectifier station and chlorination unit in the magnesium works and also on a power station and sodium nitrate unit in the nitrate plant. Hits on many other buildings and stores were indicated. At Trondheim, the photographs show a heavy concentration of hits on naval workshops adjacent to the U-boat basin, but the place was covered by black smoke a few minutes later. This is believed to be due to hits on oil storage tanks.
