TIRAUMEA
ENJOYABLE DANCE IN AID OF RED CROSS FUNDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very enjoyable dance, organised by the young people of the district, was held in the local hall, the proceeds from which will be donated to the local Red Cross Society, which will benefit by over £4. There was a good attendance from Alfredton, Pongaroa and Rakaunui, as well as three soldiers on furlough from the Middle East, Sergeant R. Newlands, Private R. Tinworth and Sapper J. Trask, to whom the local Red Cross Society presented a supply of cigarettes. The music for dancing was provided by Mrs Houlbrooke, Messrs A. Rowden and D. Thompson, Misses Bissett and Edmonds playing extras. The M’s.C. were Messrs K. Raleigh and J. Hansen.
A dinner donated by Mrs Hansen was competed for and won by Mr D. Thompson. Miss Bissett contributed two musical monologues. The Lucky Spot waltz was won by Mr J. Darlington and Miss J. Britland, and the Monte Carlo dance by Mr and Mrs McManaway. Supper was handed around by a capable committee.
DOMAIN BOARD ELECTION OF COMMITTEES. At a meeting held in the local hall the following were elected a Domain Board committee for the ensuing year: Messrs Harman Senr. (chairman), Hansen (secretary), R. Houlbrooke, G. Hart, M. Robbie, R. G. Houlbrooke and G. Robbie. The selection of a hall committee resulted as follows: Messrs R. Houlbrooke (chairman), Hansen (secretary), Harman Senr., Stevenson and G. Hart. Personal Items. Miss Bissett, dental nurse, who has been carrying out official, duties in the district, has returned to Eketahuna. Miss Neroli Curtis has left to do her 60 hours’ training in the Masterion Hospital.
