FEATHERSTON
ELECTRIC SIREN INSTALLED BY FIRE BRIGADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Fire Brigade has installed an electric siren which will be operated from the Telephone Exchange. The brigade has worked hard to raise funds with which to purchase the siren, this being the most modern method of calling out the brigade.. The brigade is to be congratulated on having installed such a useful appliance. The siren will be tested at 6 o’clock on Saturday night. Personal Items. Mrs A. Wylie, Pahiatua, is the guest of Mrs Frank White. Miss Joan McKenzie, who had been on sick leave, has returned to Wellington. Western Lake Gathering. There was a packed house at the social gathering held in the Western Lake school hall on Tuesday night in aid of the Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs. A very enjoyable time was spent. Those who sympathise with the objects of the clubs and who were unable to be present sent donations of goods or cash. Splendid business was done at a bring-and-buy stall. . A number of vocal and musical items were given and dancing indulged in The net profit in connection with the gathering amounted to £2O. COSY THEATRE “A NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS.” There will be a double feature programme presented at the Cosy Theatre tonight. In the thrilling mystery drama, “A Night in New Orleans,” the leading roles are taken by Preston Foster, Patricia Morrison and Charles Butterworth. In the associate picture, “Arizona Bound,” the principal characters are portrayed by Buck Jones and Tim McCoy.
