14,500 MILLIONS
BRITISH WAR EXPENDITURE CHANCELLOR GIVES SOME DETAILS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) RUGBY. July 22 Total British war expenditure has now reached 14,500 millions, said Sir Kingsley Wood (Chancellor of the Exchequer) in asking the House of Commons for a further vote of credit of 1.000 millions. The last vote given, the Chancellor said, may be exhausted before the end of August He had last given the rate of expenditure as about 134 millions daily, of which about 11 millions were spent on the fighting and supply services, leaving 24 millions for miscellaneous war services. Since the beginning of April the daily rate of war expenditure had been about 13} millions, there having been a drop' of about a quarter of a million daily on miscellaneous services. There was no special significance in this.
