A notice in last night’s Gazette states that the King has approved of the retention of the title of honourable by Mr Frank Langstone, who has served for more-than three years as a member of the Executive Council of New Zealand. The New Zealand Association of Refrigeration has elected the following officers for the year:—President, Mr F. W. Grainger; vice-presidents, Messrs A. S. Mitchell and J. L. Fichard; executive, Messrs G. A. Lawrence, 8.A., A. G. Wilson and W. Arthur Fisher. The funeral of thecate Mi- Samuel Dawson took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The services at the chapel and the graveside were conducted by the Rev J. M. Simpson. There was a representative attendance of relatives and friends. The pallbearers were Messrs W. T. Cheetham, K. D. Cheetham. F. Tildesley and R. H. Wilkin. The Foresters' Lodge service was conducted by Bro. A. Forsberg. The chairman, Mr A. C. Pearce, and the Secretary-Manager, Mr G. Brown, have been appointed by the Wairarapa Electric Power Board to represent the board at the annual conference of the Power Boards' Association of New Zealand, to be held at Napier on August 25 and August 26. The Chief Engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan and Mr Brown have been granted leave to attend the engineers’ and secretaries’ conference to be held at Napier on August 23. After a long period of active service with the Second N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East, Major C. F. Skinner. M.C., M.P. for Motueka, has arrived in Auckland, and left for Wellington today to take up his appointment as Minister of Rehabilitation. Major Skinner was selected for Cabinet rank in March, following the resignation of Mr Langstone, and since April he has been touring Britain on behalf ojf the British Ministry of Information for the purpose of giving the British people a first-hand account of New Zealand's war effort.
