MUNICIPAL BAND
BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING. APPRECIATION OF ASSISTANCE. The annual meeting of the Masterton Municipal Silver Band was held in the BandJßoom on Tuesday evening. There was a* large attendance of members. The committee, it was stated, had met on 15 occasions during the year and 53 practices were held. The band paraded publicly on 14 occasions. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr T. Jordan; president, Mr W. White; vice-presidents, Messrs F. G. Maunsell, R. Krahagen, W. Kemp, E. F. Barton, R. Russell, H. B. Thomas, F. E. J. Ratcliffe, G. D. Wilson, Trevor Beetham, P. Borthwick, L. B. Maunsell, G. T. O’Hara Smith, L. Pearson, W. L. Butler, J. W. Card, F. J. Harrington, F. Daniell and P. Fagan; bandmaster, Mr R. Davies; chairman, Mr B. Elliott; sergeant, Mr A. Billington; corporal custodian, Mr R. Davies; assistant custodian. Mr B. Rickards; secretary, Mr A. R. Fairbrother; treasurer, Mr W. G. Lamb; auditor, Mr A. D. Low; management committee, Messrs B. Elliott (chairman), F. J. Harrington, A. Guthrie, J. Grey, R. Davies, M. Paris, A. Atry, B. Rickards and A. Fairbrother; programme committee, Messrs G. Hutchinson, R. Davies and B. Rickards. Thanks were expressed to visiting service men and Marines for their assistance. The band was extremely thankful to the old band members for services freely given. It was once again indebted to Mr W. G. Lamb (treasurer) and Mr A. D. Low (auditor) for their services. The support of the Borough Council, the press, and the public of Masterton was also gratefully, acknowledged.
