CIVILIAN INTERNEES
BETTER TREATMENT REPORTED IN HONG KONG. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) RUGBY, July 20. Reports from the International Red Cross delegate at Hong Kong state that the quality of rations for civilians interned at Camp Stanley has much improved. A bathing beach is now open and is extremely popular After he had visited Camp Stanley on June 23, the delegate reported that conditions generally were unchanged since his previous visit, but that there had been a considerable improvement in the general outlook. He had been able to buy special food and medical supplies with money sent from Government funds in this country and also had been able to continue financial allowances to internees. Stanley Camp is on a promontory on the south side of Hong Kong Island, About 2,500 European civilian internees are accommodated.
