KITCHEN AIDS
TRAINING AT MASTERTON HOSPITAL BY WOMEN’S WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY. FACILITIES MADE AVAILABLE. An application by the Masterton Women's War Service Auxiliary for permission to train members of the auxiliary as kitchen aids at the Masterton Hospital was supported by the Wairarapa Hospital Board at its meeting today. It was pointed out that the girls would have to train for a week at the hospital without pay. The Matron, Miss H. D. Grant said if women were available to do a week’s training they would be useful provided they would be available to the hospital in the event of an emergency. She pointed out that girls who would train only for a few hours each weekend would not be satisfactory. It would be better, .she said, for the girls to have a week's continuous training. Mrs. J. Robertson, a member of. the board, who is also president of the Masterton Women's War Service Auxiliary, spoke in favour of the application. Board members agreed that the services of trained kitchen aids would be valuable and it was unanimously decided to make the facilities available for the training proposed.
