BASIC WAGES
INCREASED IN AUSTRALIAN STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ■ (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE This Day. The basic wage has been increased by 2s a week in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth and by Is a week in Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart, beginning from the first pay period in August. The new basic wages will be: New South Viales, £5 a week; Victoria, £4 19s a week; Tasmania, £4 15s a week; Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, £4 14s a week.
