CARTERTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Another successful dance was held by the Carterton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday night in the State Theatre, and was well attended. As a result the funds of the Merchant Marine Mission will materially benefit. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr C. Bambry. Udy’s orchestra supplied firstclass music, and a much-appreciated extra was played by Miss E. Lorenzen. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Goodin and partner. A novelty dance new to Carterton was a “Snowball Waltz,’’ which created much interest. Supper was presided over by members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Personal Items. The funeral of. the late Mr W. A. Renall took place on Saturday afterneon, and was well attended. A service was held at St. Mark’s Church. Carterton, by the Rev. W. F. Stent, who afterwards officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs A. E. Reid, H. Mortenson. C. Jensen, Sent’., V. J. Ashton. A. W. Renall and F. Denbee. Many beautiful floral tributes were forwarded. Dance at Belvedere. On Thursday night a dance will be held in the Belvedere Schoolroom. The proceeds will be devoted to patriotic purposes. REGENT THEATRE “BLOSSOMS IN THE DUST.’’ “Blossoms in the Dust,’’ an excellent drama will be finally shown tonight. The leading roles are taken by Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon.
