REPRESENTATIVE GAME WAIRARAPA v. WELLINGTON. WIN FOR CITY TEAM. The Wellington representative team proved too strong for Wairarapa in a game played at Lansdowne on Saturday, winning 5-0. From the bully, Wairarapa almost scored, Marshall lin goal for Wellington) bringing off some good saves. Wellington responded quickly. Ling and Sim being conspicuous, but Spain and Mulheron defended solidly. Even play followed, but a good forward movement ended in Ling scoring for Wellington. Almost immediately a second rush led by Sim ended by Wellum netting a second goal for Wellington. Wellington kept Wairarapa on the defence, Schafer bringing off some good saves. Ling was again responsible for several good movements, Chapman finally making a fine solo run to score. Wairarapa then took up the attack. Dale and Hayes being conspicuous, with Mulheron supporting them. However Wellington attacked again and Chapman made a second run to score for the visitors. Even play followed. Wairarapa being very unlucky in several good forward runs. Just before time Chapman made a smart dash to score again. Messrs Hayne ' and Tooby were the referees. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea later at the Y.M.C.A. by Mrs H. E. Either. Mr E. Tooby made fitting reference to the sportsmanship of both teams and thanked the Wellington Association for making the game possible. Those who saw the game were well rewarded with hockey of a high standard, Wairarapa putting up a creditable performance against a superior, strong combination.
