FINANCIAL MONOPOLIES

PROBLEMS TO BE TACKLED AFTER WAR. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, July 17. The problem of financial monopolies will be one of the greatest political fights in the future, said Lord Strabolgi in a speech. “Take the case of Imperial Chemical Industries. They wanted an unrestricted monopoly in the British Empire for chemicals, including fertilisers. It means complete monopoly by the directors for supplying and delivering goods essential for life. “The question is, are the directors of international monopolies going to control our State, or the State control the directors? The whole problem of financial monopolies must be tackled after the war most seriously. The Home Secretary has given a good lead. He knows what is going on.”
