OBITUARY

MR ALBERT GEORGE SWINN. Mr Albert George Swinn, a middle aged man, of 19 Cambridge Terrace, Masterton, collapsed and died at 5.30 p.m. yesterday at the Featherston Railway Station. Death was due to heart failure and an inquest will not be held. The late Mr Swinn was born in Masterton 38 years ago and had lived practically all his life in the district. He was at one time employed by Messrs J. A. Betts Ltd. He had been in ill health for the last 3 years. He leaves a widow (the youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr L. Larsen, of Mauriceville), and 1 three sons, Messrs Colin, George and Mervyn Swinn. besides two brothers, Messrs Charles, (Parkvale) and Percy Swinn (serving with the forces overseas), and four sisters, Miss M. Swinn (Masterton), and Mesdames N. J. Snell (Kahutara), C. M. Larsen (South Road, Masterton), and N. E. Larsen (Te Ore Ore). The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the Chapel of Hyde's Funeral Service Ltd., following a service at 1.30 p.m. for the Master ton Cemetery.

MRS BRIDGET PICKETT. The death occurred in Masterton on Saturday of Mrs Bridget Pickett, widow of the late John Pickett, a wellknown identity of Masterton. The late Mrs Pickett, who had not been in good health for the past 12 months, was in her 90th year. She was born in Derry, Ireland, and came to New Zealand as a child. Practically all her life had been spent in the Wairarapa district. Her husband predeceased her about two years ago and she is survived by three sons, Messrs T. W. and J. Pickett (Masterton), and H. L. Pickett (Feilding), besides nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving St. Patrick’s Church, following Mass at 9 a.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
