LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST SCATTERED RAIN. GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Moderate west to south-west winds predominating. Weather cloudy with scattered rain but improving gradually from the west. Temperatures cool to moderate. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Mainly fair. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 2 point of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday, and 5 points during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today Waingawa Sub-Station P.W.D. reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. yesterday:—Shade temperature, maximum 52, minimum 36; terrestrial, 31; sunshine, 24 minutes; rain, 6 points. For the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today: Shade temperature, maximum 45, minimum 40; terrestrial, 38. PHASES OF THE MOON. JULY. Full Moon July 17 Last Quarter July 24
