CARTERTON SALE. COMPETITION RESTRICTED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday:—A small yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward. The quality and condition of the dairy cows offered was not up to our previous yardings and competition was restricted. The following are some ■of the realisations:—Sheep: Fat wethers, to 295: light fat hoggets, to 18s lOd; 2-th. ewes, r.w. ram. to 23s Gd : m.a. ewes. r.w. Romney ram. to 12s: ewe hoggets, to 15s 2d: b.f. hoggets, to 7s. Cattle: Jersey cows on drop, to £lO 10s: Jersey cows, due August. £G 10s. £7 ss. £7 10s to £8 15s: Jersey cows, due September. £5 to £5 10s: springing heifers, to £7 ss; empty 2-yr'. heifers, to £4 2s Gd: fat cows. £5 to £6 15s; forward cows. £3 14s to £4 15s; store cows, £2 to £3; cull cows. 10s to 355. Pigs: Sows, r.w.b., to £5; forward stores. £2 5s to £2 14s; store pigs, 32s to £2: slips. 25s to 30s; weaners, 20s to 30s. CLEARING SALE. SPIRITED BIDDING FOR COWS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co,. Ltd., report having held yesterday a most successful clearing sale on account of Messrs J. A. O’Donnell and Co., when they submitted a dairy herd of 110 cows and heifers to a large attendance. The cows came forward in good condition and the early calvers particularly met with spirited competition, numbers selling from £l4 to £l6. The sound cows averaged £ll while the springing heifers averaged £9 The following were the main prices:—July calvers, £l2, £l4, £l5 to £IG ss: Augusi calvers, £lO, £ll. £l2 to £l4: Septembei calvers. £7. £B. £9 to £10; springing heifers. £7 10s. £B. £9. £lO to £ll 10s. Sundries: 100 gallon separator. £32 JOs; milk pump. £7: pig styes, £l2 10s each.
