ELECTORAL ROLLS

SUPPLEMENTS NOW BEING PREPARED PROBLEM OF THE MACS. NEW ARRANGEMENT ADOPTED. Supplementary rolls are now beingprepared for the Masterton and other electorates, the main rolls having closed on Monday. A new procedure is being adopted in the roll this year for the inclusion of surnames confimencing with Mac or Me. Surnames starting with Me are to be read as Mac and will be arranged in alphabetical order accordingly. A name such as Mace will appear in the roll subsequent to McDowell and prior to McElroy. Me will still be printed in that way and not as Mac. It is considered that the adoption of this method will obviate much confusion on polling day in the finding of the name of an elector in the Me or Mac category.
