SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Greytown District High School Committee there were present: Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes (treasurer), W. Grigg, H. C. Trotman, W. Wiggins. R. O'Neale, Mrs Knell, and the headmaster, Mr S. C. Shedden. The headmaster reported, inter alia, as follows: —Primary roll, 293; secondary, 38. During! the past month cocoa had been supplied to children who brought their lunch to school. Fire drill had been carried out. The Education Board wrote stating that an emergency exit would be made in the corridor at the school when the labour and material were made able.The committee decided to contribute £4O towards the new playing area around the dental clinic. The visiting-committee reported that the locks at the high school had been forced open and broken. The matter had been reported to the police. Golf Club. A mixed foursome will be played on the Greytown links on Saturday afternoon. The draw will be made at the clubhouse at 1 o’clock. Sitting of S.M. Court. The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at Greytown yesterday. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided. ’ Henry James Shiel was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for having failed to register under the National Service Regulations in the general reserve. For having failed to register in the Home Guard he was fined £5 and costs 10s, and for having failed to register in the Emergency Reserve he was fined £2 and costs 10s. Stoney Matthews, for having .300 ammunition in his possession without having a permit, was fined £5 and costs 12s. TOWN HALL TWO BIG FEATURES. “Bad Men of Arizona” and “Riot Squad,” will provide plenty of thrills for patrons at the Town Hall tonight. In the former picture Richard Dix and Kent Taylor have the leading roles, and in the latter Richard Cromwell and Rita Quigley.
