ADMIRAL ROBERT REPLACED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 14. The United States Department announced yesterday that the Vichy Governor of Martinique, Admiral' Robert, has relinquished authority, and the United States has accepted M. Henri Hopenot, a member of the French Military Mission in Washington, who was designated by the French Committee of National Liberation as the new Administrator. The department said that M. Hoppenot had promised full co-opera-tion against the Axis. French naval units and merchantmen at Martinique now immobilised, would be available for the United Nations’ war effort.
